Whats in a breed.

What do you get when you take one of these:

add a little of this:

and a little of this:

and a dash of this:

Don't know? Well, according to the idiots at Mars Veterinary, you get this:

Can you believe it! Its like instead of doing the test, they just threw darts at an AKC breed poster. These idiots are trying to tell me that my dog, that MOXIE, is a beagle mix!!! WTF! DO they think I'm stupid? Well obviously I am, I actually paid these people to do a DNA breed test on my dog. $85 wasted.

I'm so angry I could spit nails. I've been royally had!
What makes me even more angry than the money I wasted, is the fact that this company assured us that this test was complete and accurate, and something useful and factual that we could offer our clients. Now its our integrity on the line, and you can bet we won't be offering this test in our office anymore. Moxie's was the first profile we did, and I wish we had waited to offer it to clients until we had her results and were satisfied. As it is, we had two other clients do the test. I'm so ashamed. I just hope whoever is playing darts over at Mars Veterinary has better aim with their tests.

Believe me folks, don't waste your time, or money on the Mars Wisdom panel DNA breed test.

Since we know for sure Boomer is half purebred Golden Retriever, it would almost be worth it to do it as a "test" test... Sorry this was such a disappointment!

I'm sorry it was a disappointment, but I'm glad you warned us. I have had people asking about this and have no knowledge of it. But, yes, this does seem like a scam, whether they mean for it to be or not. I'd rather think that they are somewhat misguided and have little science to offer their clients.

Hmm, ma says she saw on another dog blog that they had a test like this done and were bemused by the results too. You are beautiful whatever your roots Moxie.

Toodle pip,

No freakin way. I would be more likely to see Australian Cattle Dog, Golden Retriever with a dash of Chow or Keeshound.

I did see a strange dog yesterday-head of a Bull terrier (I mean, egg shaped perfection) and body of a Basset. I literally almost ran off the road doing a double take.

Wow, if it wasn't so crappy that you got had, those results would be really humorous. Sucks you had to pay $85 for a big fat joke - reminds me of the pet cloning company that went kaput in California, promising people something that just isn't possible.

That is so bizarre!! And funny at the same time!! LOL R, you should just laugh it off. Next time, they should just ask for the DNA sample AND a photo of your dog. Maybe then they'll get closer to predicting the breed. HA!!

I would be sooo ticked off! I cant belive how stupid they are! There is a good chapter in this book - The Truth about Dogs by Stephen Budiansky about genes and genetics... I firmly believe there is NO way you can find out. Sorry you got scammed :(

Yikes. I have considered a DNA test on Chase but you are the second person who has awful results with it. Moxie is obviously a BC something.
